Baseball Recap: Granada Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Granada, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Foothill Falcons a 1-0 shutout on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Matadors: when they faced off against the Falcons on Wednesday, they had to take a 6-4 defeat.

Not much got past Tyler Kennedy, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Foothill off the board. Kennedy has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Granada saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Estevan Duarte, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Duarte has posted since back in March.

Granada pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Foothill, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Granada will square off against rival Dublin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Matadors 2.1, the Gaels 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Foothill is set to face off against their familiar foe Livermore at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
