Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert). They blew past the Frazier Mountain Falcons 25-8 on Monday. Considering the Scorpions have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alayna Phillips made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and seven RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rachel Hewes, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Kesler, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
