Volleyball Game Preview: Lake Zurich Bears vs. Palatine Pirates

The Lake Zurich Bears will head out on the road to take on the Palatine Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Lake Zurich beat Zion-Benton 2-0.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lake Zurich was: they took both sets by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14.

Lake Zurich's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Emme Lawrence, who had six digs and five aces, and Malia McManus, who had eight digs and two aces. That's the most aces McManus has posted over her last seven contests. Luize Bibere also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Lake Zurich was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They are a perfect 6-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Palatine entered their tilt with Prospect on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 2-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Pirates' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

While Palatine won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-20.

Lake Zurich's record now sits at 12-7. As for Palatine, their record is now 18-4.
