Basketball Recap: Charlotte Country Day School Takes Down Durham Academy in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Charlotte Country Day School had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Durham Academy Cavaliers on Tuesday as the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers made off with a 59-33 win. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Sam Vanderhave was her usual excellent self, going 9-for-19 en route to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Charlotte Country Day School is 14-3 when Vanderhave posts three or more steals, but 6-7 otherwise. Olive Bigham was another key player, going 6-for-7 to rack up 12 points along with seven boards and five assists.

Charlotte Country Day School was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Durham Academy only racked up five assists.

Despite the loss, Durham Academy still got an impressive performance from Rashyia 'Shy' Williams, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Williams is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sasha Bilsborrow, who posted seven points.

The victory made it two in a row for Charlotte Country Day School and bumps their season record up to 20-10. As for Durham Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-15.

Charlotte Country Day School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-47 loss against Rabun Gap-Nacoochee on the 14th. Durham Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
