Preview: Berlin Redcoats vs. Bloomfield Warhawks
The Berlin Redcoats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bloomfield Warhawks at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Berlin pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Glastonbury by a score of 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Berlin has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Berlin got a solid performance out of Emma Ellison, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ellison has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Walker, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Bloomfield, who are still winless after their seventh game. They fell 56-44 to East Hartford on Monday. While losing is never fun, Bloomfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while East Hartford is ranked 42nd).
Berlin's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Bloomfield, they bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
