Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Abby Homberger and Taylor Viotto Lead Barron Collier to Victory

A well-balanced attack led Barron Collier over Key West in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. The Cougars blew past the Conchs 46-26. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Barron Collier to victory were Taylor Viotto and Abby Homberger. Viotto almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Homberger went 6-for-9 on her way to 12 points. Those 12 points gave Homberger a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emery Kepple, who posted six points and five steals.

Barron Collier has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 38 points this season. As for Key West, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Barron Collier will face off against Community School of Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Key West, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gulf Coast at 5:00 p.m. on December 5.
