Softball Game Preview: Schulenburg Shorthorns vs. Brazos Cougars

The Schulenburg Shorthorns will be taking part in a tournament against the Brazos Cougars at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Schulenburg and three for Brazos.

Schulenburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Moulton by a score of 17-15 on Tuesday.

Audrey Woytek and Summer Livingston did some serious damage despite the final result: Woytek scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Livingston scored three runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs Livingston has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Angel Davis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Schulenburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Brazos came up short against Victoria East on Tuesday and fell 8-5.

Kendall Macha made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Clarissa Almaraz also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Schulenburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Brazos, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
