Softball Recap: Portage Takes a Loss

After flying high against Michigan City on Thursday, Portage came back down to earth. The Indians came up short against the New Prairie Cougars on Friday, falling 11-1.

Portage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cora Kingrey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Portage has also been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. As for New Prairie, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Portage is taking a road trip to square off against Hebron at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Indians are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for New Prairie, they will challenge La Porte at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Slicers have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
