Softball Game Preview: Terre Haute South Vigo Braves vs. Clay City Eels

The Terre Haute South Vigo Braves will head out to face off against the Clay City Eels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Terre Haute South Vigo made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Harrison, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Braves fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 3-1 on Saturday.

Terre Haute South Vigo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Cesinger, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Clay City fell victim to Tecumseh and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Braves, falling 10-0. The Eels have struggled against the Braves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Clay City's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Terre Haute South Vigo's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Braves have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Clay City, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Terre Haute South Vigo continue to outrun the ball?

Terre Haute South Vigo couldn't quite get it done against Clay City in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
