Basketball Recap: Shawano Community Takes a Loss

On Monday, the Shawano Community Hawks were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-67 to the Sparta Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Spartans are ranked 117th).

Shawano Community has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. Sparta's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 16-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sparta beat Shawano Community by a score of 72-67 on Tuesday.
