Softball Recap: Gowanda Panthers vs. Randolph Cardinals
After flying high against Brocton last Friday, Gowanda came back down to earth. The Panthers fell just short of the Randolph Cardinals by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cardinals since on Thursday.
Addison Kota put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Holland Browning made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Gowanda's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Randolph, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-6.
