Softball Preview: Wakefield Warriors vs. West Springfield Spartans

The Wakefield Warriors will head out to challenge the West Springfield Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wakefield will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

While Wakefield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Herndon on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Elaina Primozic, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Layla Muten was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West Springfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Wakefield, their record now sits at 4-0.
