Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Arrows vs. Tupelo Golden Wave

For the second straight game, Clinton will face off against Tupelo. The Arrows will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Clinton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Clinton heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tupelo. The Arrows' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

For Tupelo's part, South McCoy made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McCoy has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Tanner Brannigan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayes Hooker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

The win was the third in a row for Tupelo, bringing their record up to 19-14. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 21-8.
