Basketball Recap: Leiah Thompson Key Part of a Team Effort in Buccaneers Win

Branford won the last time they faced Hamilton County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Branford Buccaneers came out on top against the Hamilton County Trojans by a score of 55-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.

Branford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leiah Thompson, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points and six boards. That's the most rebounds Thompson has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Amyah James, who posted 17 points and three steals.

Branford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Branford has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Hamilton County, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Branford will challenge Riverside Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hamilton County, they will take on Suwannee at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hamilton County is facing Suwannee at the right time seeing as Suwannee is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
