Baseball Game Preview: Monterey Plainsmen vs. Midland Bulldogs

The Monterey Plainsmen will head out on the road to face off against the Midland Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Monterey has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Midland will arrive with four straight victories.

Monterey's tournament run continued when they took on Randall on Saturday. Monterey fell 6-1 to Randall. That's two games in a row now that the Plainsmen have lost by exactly five runs.

Monterey saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was RJ Laurent, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Laurent also put up a hit, which washis first of the season. Another was Bryce Alexander, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

Meanwhile, Midland earned a 4-1 win over Coronado on Friday.

Midland's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Monterey, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Monterey suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Midland in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can Monterey avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
