Volleyball Recap: Darien Blue Wave vs. Staples Wreckers

Darien was the 3-1 winner over Staples when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Wave fell 3-1 to the Wreckers on Thursday. The Blue Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Darien couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Staples a tough time in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 28-30, 25-22, 25-11.

Thomas Herget paced Darien's offense, picking up 13 kills. Herget got some help from Jack Wheeler and his 26 assists. Jake Patterson controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Darien now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Staples, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, Darien will head out on the road to square off against Norwalk at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Staples, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on New Canaan at 4:00 p.m. on May 21.
