Softball Recap: Hilliard Comes Up Short

Hilliard lost against Baker County back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hilliard Red Flashes took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Baker County Wildcats. The matchup marked the Red Flashes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Hilliard saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peighton Self, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Hilliard's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Baker County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilliard will face off against Fernandina Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Fernandina Beach has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Hilliard will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Baker County, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Keystone Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Keystone Heights has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
