No. 4 Allen at ProsperFriday, 7 p.m., Children's Health Stadium
Top players
In the space of just 10 years, Prosper has grown from a 3A school with an enrollment of 657 to a 6A school with 2,975 students. Prosper still has some growing to do to catch Allen and its enrollment of 6,664. In Prosper's first season at the 6A level, Allen at home came away with a 54-21 victory.
Alice at Calallen (Corpus Christi)Friday, 7:30 p.m., Wildcat Stadium
Top players
No surprise that the state's all-time winningest coach, Phil Danaher, has his Calallen team at 8-0 going into this District 15-5A-2 matchup against 7-1 Alice. In Danaher's time-tested system that has produced 466 victories, quarterback Garza is four times more likely to run than pass. Alice quarterback Aguilar is productive runner, too, but has also thrown for over 1,300 yards.
No. 14 Highland Park (Dallas) at LancasterFriday, 7:30 p.m., Beverly D. Humphrey Tiger Stadium
Top players
Each comes in with a 7-1 season record and a 5-0 mark in District 6-5A-1. Lancaster has reeled off seven straight wins since losing its opener to Duncanville, the state's top-ranked team. Highland Park, going for a state championship four-peat this fall, lost in Week 3 to Lone Star (Frisco). Highland Park, on its home field, won last year's encounter, 39-14.
La Vega (Waco) at BrownwoodFriday, 7 p.m., Gordon Wood Stadium
Top players
The outcome will decide the District 5-4A-1 title. La Vega (7-1, 2-0 in district), is the defending state champion in this classification. Brownwood (8-0, 2-0), a legendary program from decades past, is having a rebirth after being picked to finish fourth in a five-team district.
El Campo at Bay CityFriday, 7:30 p.m., Memorial Stadium
Top players
This is the annual renewal of the state's longest continual rivalry. El Campo (7-1) and Bay City (0-8) have met each season since 1920. A year ago, Bay City ended a 12-year losing streak to its rival with a 31-24 victory and has not won since, dropping nine in a row. El Campo is tied for second in District 13-4A-1 with a 3-1 record.
