Softball Game Preview: Irondequoit Eagles vs. East Eagles

Irondequoit will take on East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Irondequoit will be strutting in after a victory while East will be coming in after a defeat.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Irondequoit and Gates Chili, and Irondequoit kept the tradition alive. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Spartans 9-8 on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Olivia Cooley, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, East unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 14-2 to Northstar Christian Academy on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost five in a row.
