Martin County had to settle for second on Friday, but Joseph Cuccurullo sure wasn't going down easily. Cuccurullo struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits, which was good enough to set a new career-high in strikeouts in the process.

Looking ahead, Cuccurullo and Martin County will take on Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuccurullo has dominated as far as walks are concerned (he's averaged 1 per game this season), but he's got his work cut out for him considering the Eagles have only allowed 3.33 per game this season.
