Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Dwyer's Winning Streak

Dwyer was the 69-31 winner over Royal Palm Beach when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dwyer Panthers fell just short of the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats by a score of 59-57 on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Wildcats are ranked 224th).

When it comes to explaining why Dwyer lost, don't look at JORDAN QUINCE. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. QUINCE's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. TAMARI REED was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Dwyer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Royal Palm Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Francis led the charge by going 5 for 6 on his way to 16 points. Kyree Battle also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

With the loss, Dwyer broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-9. As for Royal Palm Beach, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Dwyer will head out on the road to face off against Lake Worth at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th. As for Royal Palm Beach, they will welcome Palm Beach Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
