Mattoon had to settle for second on Wednesday, but Madden Johnson sure wasn't going down easily. Johnson produced his best game of the campaign: he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.
