Baseball Recap: Oxford Takes a Loss

Oxford fell victim to Seymour and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 last Monday.

Octavius Carlson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Oxford has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Seymour, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
