Softball Recap: Charlestown Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Charlestown won the last time they faced Austin and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pirates' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Isabella Watkins, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie Pickerell, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Charlestown and bumps their season record up to 8-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Coming up, Charlestown will welcome Madison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Austin, they are taking a road trip to take on Providence at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
