Basketball Recap: Kaleb Ferguson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Thornton

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Montrose walked away with it. They walked away with a 46-39 win over the Thornton Trojans on Friday. Given the Red Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Trojans are ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Montrose got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleb Ferguson out in front who went 8-for-15 on his way to 19 points and eight boards. CJ Rocco was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Montrose smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Montrose's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Thornton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.

Looking ahead, Montrose will take on Durango on Tuesday. Thornton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
