Hillsborough and King are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. Hillsborough will be playing at home against King at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Tuesday, it was close, but Hillsborough sidestepped Chamberlain for a 3-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Terriers have won by exactly two runs.
Oswald Font spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Curtis Roberts, who scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Pena, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, King narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Armwood 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted against the Hawks since April 5, 2016.
Nicholas Brown was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Nico Brown was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
King hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Armwood struck out seven times.
The win made it two in a row for King and bumps their season record up to 6-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Hillsborough, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.
Hillsborough was able to grind out a solid win over King in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 5-1. Will Hillsborough repeat their success, or does King has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
