Lexington is 8-2 against McNairy Central since May of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lexington's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Chester County. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Carly Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Holly Bartholomew and Kk Simko did most of the damage at the plate: Bartholomew went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Simko went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Bartholomew has posted since back in April. Lane Huskey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Lexington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when McNairy Central duked it out with Hardin County on Friday. The Bobcats blew past the Tigers 12-1. Winning may never get old, but the Bobcats sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
McNairy Central let Rhyan Gray and Kenli Bingham run wild. Gray went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs, while Bingham went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Chanley Steele was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
McNairy Central pushed their record up to 19-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Lexington, their record is now 29-13-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lexington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like McNairy Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .420. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lexington was able to grind out a solid victory over McNairy Central in their previous matchup back in April, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
