Baseball Game Preview: East vs. Memorial Red Devils

East is on an eight-game streak of home losses, and Memorial a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. East will welcome the Memorial Red Devils at 12:30 p.m. Memorial took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on East, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, East turned things around against Leetonia on Friday. They blew past the Bears 8-1. East not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 14-7).

Francisco Rodriguez Santos made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of East's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 2-9 when he doesn't).

Rodriguez Santos wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Victor Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Rodriguez a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Memorial fell victim to McDonald and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils.

Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for East, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.

East came up short against Memorial when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-3. Can East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
