Softball Recap: Havelock Rams vs. South Central Falcons
If Havelock was riding high off their 15-2 takedown of Jacksonville last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Havelock Rams took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Central Falcons on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that Havelock let down their fans at home.
Elana Krupey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Mackenzie Kramer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Andria Krupey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
On South Central's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ava Coward gave up five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Haven Roebuck was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and a double while going 3-for-4. Blaire Adee was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Havelock's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5. As for South Central, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
