Basketball Recap: Rome Free Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Rome Free Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the New Hartford Spartans by a score of 66-57. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-50 back in January.

Rome Free Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabella Cunningham out in front who went 9 for 17 en route to 24 points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. Those 24 points gave Cunningham a new career-high. Haylee Bostwick was another key player, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Rome Free Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive contests.

Rome Free Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for New Hartford, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Rome Free Academy will host Central Valley Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Hartford, they are taking a road trip to face off against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
