Basketball Recap: Labelle Falls Short of Island Coast in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact LaBelle can now relate to. They fell just short of the Island Coast Gators by a score of 48-46 on Friday. The Cowboys/Cowgirls were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gators earlier this season, when they won 57-50.

LaBelle lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jerrahd Williams, who almost dropped a double-double with nine steals and nine blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Arrie Davis Jr., who went 7 for 10 en route to 15 points and six boards.

Izaiah Bacchus was nothing short of spectacular for Island Coast: he posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Those five assists gave Bacchus a new career-high. Jose Bido was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took for 11 points and three steals.

LaBelle's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Island Coast, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-10.

LaBelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Island Coast, they will face off against Gibbs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gibbs knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully Island Coast likes a good challenge.
