Basketball Recap: Mattoon Comes Up Short

Mattoon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers, falling 46-21.

Leading Brownstown/St. Elmo to victory were Dayana Haslett and Madi Miller. Haslett posted 16 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Miller almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Haslett's big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Addie Sasse, who put up seven points and eight rebounds.

Mattoon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Brownstown/St. Elmo, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Coming up, Mattoon will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Effingham at 7:00 p.m. The contest will give the Greenwave their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Brownstown/St. Elmo, they are taking a road trip to challenge Farina South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
