Basketball Recap: Jaylen Britt and Jaylin Brown Secure Win for Newnan

Newnan proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 25) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 victory over the Morrow Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-44 back in December of 2024.

Newnan was led to victory by Jaylin Brown and Jaylen Britt. Brown posted 16 points and five boards, while Britt went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points. Those 13 points gave Britt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Maniaci, who had eight points.

Newnan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Morrow, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.

Newnan will head out to face off against Dutchtown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dutchtown will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Newnan surely won't give up without a fight. Morrow has already played their next game (against McIntosh), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
