Football Recap: Denver East Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

Denver East kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a 55-13 loss at the hands of the Sand Creek Scorpions. The Angels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Declan Macdonald threw for 102 yards and one TD.

Sand Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Mangrum out in front who rushed for 190 yards and four scores while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. Mangrum's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Treven Rick, who rushed for 129 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Looking ahead, Denver East will face off against Vista PEAK Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sand Creek, they will square off against Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
