Basketball Recap: Angelina Insana's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Aubrey Rogers over Gateway

After flying high against Fort Myers last Tuesday, Aubrey Rogers came back down to earth. The Aubrey Rogers Patriots took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gateway Eagles on Thursday. The Patriots were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angelina Insana, who posted 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Insana is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 43 games she's played dating back to last season. Ella Johnson was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gateway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Thatiyana Holiday, who had 17 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. That's the most assists Holiday has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was V'Davrielle Johnson, who went 7-for-16 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Aubrey Rogers' record is now 18-6. As for Gateway, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.

Aubrey Rogers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-34 win against Lely on the 6th. As for Gateway, they have also already played their next match, a 46-32 victory against First Baptist Academy on the 31st.
