Basketball Recap: Leadore Extends Home Winning Streak to 16

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leadore). They breezed by the Sho-Ban Chiefs to the tune of 68-22 on Tuesday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.

Leadore was led to victory by Lexi Bird and Katie Mackay. Bird dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Mackay almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Mackay a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Bird, who posted eight points.

Leadore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Leadore's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.4 points per game. As for Sho-Ban, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Leadore will face off against Rockland at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Leadore has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Sho-Ban does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
