Baseball Recap: East Longmeadow Takes a Loss

East Longmeadow lost against Longmeadow last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 2-1.

Nick Rocca spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, East Longmeadow saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Maruca, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Derek Helberg also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

East Longmeadow has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Longmeadow, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Looking ahead, East Longmeadow will square off against Holyoke at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Longmeadow, they will challenge Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
