Basketball Recap: Ryan Grskovich's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lowell over Kouts

If Lowell was riding high fresh off their 61-40 takedown of River Forest last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Lowell Red Devils and the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies didn't end well, with the Lowell Red Devils falling 74-59. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Mustangs & Fillies: they've now lost six in a row.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Grskovich, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points and three steals. Grskovich has become a key player for Lowell: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 9-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Elenbaum, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 15 points.

Lowell's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Kouts, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowell will square off against Rensselaer Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kouts, they will take on River Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kouts knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully River Forest likes a good challenge.
