Softball Recap: Fort Thomas Takes a Loss

Fort Thomas had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-9 to make it five. They lost 18-1 to the Superior Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Apaches of the 18-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Fort Thomas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jennika Wilson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Sadie Harvey also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Superior, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-1-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

On Superior's side, Alyna Cruz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Cruz has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stephanie Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Noelle Duarte was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

While Fort Thomas had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
