Baseball Game Preview: Rowan County Vikings vs. West Carter Comets

Rowan County is a perfect 10-0 against West Carter since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Comets at 6:00 p.m. Rowan County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Rowan County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Menifee County on Monday as they made off with a 24-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Eli Miller was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Rowan County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-11 when he doesn't). Aaron Pennington was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rowan County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.

Meanwhile, West Carter came up short against St. Joseph Central on Friday, falling 13-3. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Carter's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Rowan County, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.

Rowan County was able to grind out a solid win over West Carter when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 17-14. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
