Baseball Game Preview: Perry Yellowjackets vs. Wayland-Cohocton Eagles

Perry is 0-3 against Wayland-Cohocton since May of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Perry will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Perry is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Mount Morris 16-1 on Wednesday. With that win, the Yellowjackets brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Walker Briggs made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Chuck Derin looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

Back at the plate, Beau Solcum was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Tyler Harvey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Wayland-Cohocton was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Livonia by a score of 2-1.

Wayland-Cohocton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Perry, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.
