Softball Recap: Downingtown East Extends Winning Streak to Four

Downingtown East came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Bishop Shanahan Eagles by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 on Tuesday.

Lilly Waterer was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Madison Baroni was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Downingtown East's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Bishop Shanahan, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Looking ahead, Downingtown East will square off against Coatesville at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Bishop Shanahan, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Henderson on the 5th.
