Basketball Game Preview: Laton Mustangs vs. Kings Christian Crusaders

Laton is 0-10 against Kings Christian since January of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Laton Mustangs will host the Kings Christian Crusaders at 7:15 p.m.

Last Wednesday, Laton lost to Maricopa on the road by a 43-26 margin.

Jaythan Garcia put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 14 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Yann Jimenez was another key player, putting up three points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kings Christian). They blew past Alpaugh, posting a 93-23 win. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Kings Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points per game. As for Laton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Laton was dealt a bruising 76-13 defeat at the hands of Kings Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kings Christian's Andrew Ortega, who went 10 for 16 en route to 23 points and eight steals.
