Softball Recap: Mountain Grove's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After a string of five wins, Mountain Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Willow Springs Bears by a score of 10-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-8 back in April.

Hannah Dowden was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Landry Golden made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Lyla Golden was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Mountain Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Willow Springs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-10.

As of now, neither Mountain Grove nor the Bears have any future games scheduled.
