Football Recap: Veterans Memorial Comes Up Short

Veterans Memorial extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-4. They were dealt a 56-25 loss at the hands of the Tivy Antlers. The Patriots were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

As for Tivy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Considering they have won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Tivy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Guy Flores, who picked up 101 receiving yards and four TDs. Those four receiving touchdowns gave Flores a new career-high. Kyrin Armelin was another key receiver, picking up 149 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Looking ahead, Veterans Memorial will take on Alamo Heights at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Mules have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Tivy, they will be playing at home against McCollum at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
