Basketball Game Preview: Durango Demons vs. Fruita Monument Wildcats

Durango is 2-8 against Fruita Monument since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Durango Demons will look to defend their home court against the Fruita Monument Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Durango was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-38 to Montrose.

Despite their defeat, Durango saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lilly Fitzpatrick, who posted eight points, was perhaps the best of all. Mariah Maestas was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Fruita Monument entered their tilt with Montrose on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Red Hawks 44-18. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Wildcats had established a 20 point advantage.

Durango's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3. As for Fruita Monument, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
