Recap: Morrill Lions vs. Bridgeport Bulldogs

If the Morrill Lions were riding high off their 62-28 takedown of the Mitchell Tigers on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Morrill was dealt a 67-26 defeat at the hands of Bridgeport on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Morrill has scored all season.

Morrill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Katelyn Walker, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. Walker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Brown, who scored nine points along with three steals.

It was another big night for Olivia Loomis-goltl, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds for Bridgeport. Loomis-goltl has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Brown, who scored 14 points.

Morrill has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season. As for Bridgeport, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.

Morrill and Gordon-Rushville will face off at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Gordon-Rushville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Bridgeport, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bayard at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Bridgeport is coming into the contest with 16 straight victories on the road, so Bayard is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
