Softball Recap: Northridge Comes Up Short

Northridge extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-8 in the process. They fell 12-8 to the Concord Minutemen. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Minutemen earlier this season, when they won 15-2.

Willow Staley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Rielyn Goodwin was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for Concord, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly four runs.

On Concord's side, Cassi Reames and Janessa Bennett did most of the damage at the plate: Reames went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Bennett went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI. That's the most RBI Reames has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Hodge, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northridge will venture away from home to face off against Wawasee at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Concord, they will head out on the road to square off against Mishawaka at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
