Baseball Recap: McClatchy Comes Up Short

McClatchy was the 4-0 winner over Vista del Lago when they last played one another back in May of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.

McClatchy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elias Ortega, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Ortega is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for McClatchy and nudges their season record down to 17-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Vista del Lago, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

McClatchy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 win against Cordova on the 21st. As for Vista del Lago, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 loss against Bella Vista on the 22nd.
