Baseball Game Preview: Marianna Bulldogs vs. Arnold Marlins

Marianna hasn't had much luck against Arnold recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Marianna Bulldogs will face off against the Arnold Marlins at 11:30 a.m. Marianna has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Marianna is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with an 18-13 win over Blountstown on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the game before.

Parker Willis was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Landon Cornelius also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Marianna always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Arnold entered their tilt with Maclay on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Marauders. Four seems to be a good number for the Marlins as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Carter Campbell looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mack Jones was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Josh Lindsey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Marianna is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. Arnold's record now sits at 10-5.

Marianna suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Arnold when the teams last played back in February. Can Marianna avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
